About DJ Rasheed BawloutDJ Rasheed Bawlout was born on December 12 in Oakland, CA to a mother and father who owned lots of records and played them all the time. Rasheed, his mother, father and older brother would dance to these buzzing sounds. Rasheed’s love for vinyl was born in these moments. By the mid‐70's, the family moved to New York City—the place to be if you were a lover of varied musical styles. Even at a young age (mostly through tales of his parents adventures in sound), Rasheed was exposed to the greatest jazz performers popping in for impromptu sets Uptown in Harlem, and the hottest pop or funk acts at the legendary clubs in Downtown Manhattan. Inspired by his parents, Rasheed set out on his own musical journey. Upon piecing together a DJ set made from old recovered record players, a mixer bought by his mother and her old vinyl albums, Rasheed's career began. Having been exposed to many musical melodies, he developed a great passion for mixing of the two styles and would become one of the youngest and more diverse DJ's in his peer group. Rasheed's passion was rewarded by many opportunities within the industry like playing for an array of artists, including KRS‐1, Eddie Murphy and Dwayne Wiggins. He has also DJ’ed throughout the country, but most prominently in New York City at weekly parties and events for promotional companies like Underground Network, and in clubs like Club Elite, as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area at venues like Up & Down, Sweet’s Historic Ballroom, Red Eye and many more. With the Digital Age creating massive changes in the music industry, Rasheed extended his knowledge and technical skills at SAE School of Audio Engineering. However, even in this time of CDs and MP3s, he still stays true to his first love, so you will see Rasheed at times still working the tables with vinyl.
